Style File: Fall 2007 Absurd Shoe Edition

I found this swanky assortment of shoes among the Fall 2007 line up at Barneys.

Here are my astute observations:

1. Miu Miu Anklestrap Mary Jane: I am not a fan of any flat shoe at all. This shoe looks like an episode of “When the Glue Gun Went Wrong.” Huge rhinestones on my tippy toes does not a diva make. I believe that a woman’s legs look best in a pair of high heels–the higher, the better! What’s the purpose of woman’s leg is her calf isn’t pumped up past sexy? I only wear flat shoes on my bad days—my very, very, bad days. But, if you like flats, you do you…you are certainly not dressing for me. If you spend ALL your time caring what others think about you, it’s a waste of time. Besides, when I see you, I will only be concerned if you noticed my fabulousity!

2. Marc Jacobs Cuffed Wedge Boot: Okay–why do I want to wear a boot that looks like a mini-me of a pant leg. And, white suede at that? To top it off, it looks like you’re wearing opaque tights with a wedge pump and white pants. This look is usually reserved for 60 and over ladies who lunch or for that just-a-tad-bit-off female classmate who always asked for your pudding at lunch.

3. Robert Clergerie Platform Mary Jane: Here we go again with the flat shoes. You already know how I feel about this. And on top of that, it has the nerve to have a platform–like that’s gonna make a huge difference in the overall flat look. A high flat heel—an oxymoron in the truest sense of the word…..

4. Marc Jacobs Pant Leg Knee Boot: okay…when I first saw this shoe…I had no words…I am still stumbling over my speech as I write….okay, just one question: Why would I wear a knee length jean boot over my jeans? Imagine wearing skintight jeans with this boot out and about…Hee-larious! Just because it has a designer pedigree doesn’t make it right…..

5. Marc by Marc Jacobs Scrunch Ruffle Boot: Another bad creation from MJ himself. But, I do have to admit, I actually like these boots a little bit….just a wee bit. Until my recent closet audit, I had a very similar pair–minus the scrunch. I don’t think that scrunchies are good for ANY occasion—and putting it on your leg doesn’t excuse you. I am familiar with the scrunch DOWN look, but the scrunch UP look is a new one for me. Almost like a Hefty bag on your leg. It takes the trashy look to a new level….

If I had to pick one of the five, it would be this one….but that really isn’t saying much–it is from very slim pickings….

FYI: My oldest son begins school this week and I’m off to travel for NYC Fashion week, so forthcoming posts will be a little slow…that means, if you don’t see me for a few days, you will know why!

Keep it strictly stylish!
