Date Doctor Edition: In the Doghouse
I was talking to one of my dear friends and she was telling me about her dog being a man magnet…too bad most of them are homosexual…she lives in a very gay friendly neighborhood….LOL! This convo had me thinking: can your beloved pooch snag you a date. Here’s what I found on the ‘Net:
Let’s say, you’ve already got a dog…
But chances are, you probably haven’t considered the many ways that your pet can open the door for you in terms of getting more dates.
On the other hand, if you haven’t got a dog yet and you’re single, then you might want to get one.
Why Every Single Person Should Have A Dog
I’ve always said that having a dog is one of the best ways to get a date.
Why?
Because they:
Get you out & about — where you’re likely to meet more people in general (…outside of your apartment!)
Put you in the company of other people like you (…who also have dogs like at the vet, the park, downtown, or anywhere else you might be walking your dog)
Help you “break the ice” (…if you are in close enough proximity to other people, they are highly likely to comment on your cute puppy)
Give you something to talk about (…those likely to strike up a conversation with you when you are with your pet are likely to be dog lovers themselves)
And if you’re talking about dogs (your dog, their dog, dogs in general) with this person, then you’ve already jumped a huge hurdle in the dating world: finding something that you have in common.
Been There, Done That
I base this information on my own single days as a dog owner. My dog definitely helped to put me in the right place at the right time to strike up a conversation with a number of potential dates. From there, it was up to me to either make it happen or not.
Did my dog ultimately put me in touch with my future husband?… Well, despite the fact that Jim (said husband) and I actually “met” another way, my dog played a very important role in the dating process. Most memorable was our first date when Jim brought him some puppy pepperoni to bribe Jersey into liking him. And Jersey, (who was the reason I rarely brought any men into my apartment because he wasn’t real friendly toward guys), wholeheartedly accepted Jim with open arms paws from that day forward.
So there you have it.
New Study Reveals Dogs Are Date Magnets
Oddly enough, a study came out last week that seems to back up my findings:
- When it comes to meeting women, 58% of men surveyed said a puppy is a foolproof babe magnet in the park.
- 46% of women said they’d stop and talk to anyone with a cute puppy.
- When it comes to dating dog lovers, make sure their dog is a match, too. 66% of dog owners said they wouldn’t even consider dating someone who didn’t like their dog.
Well, I guess you can make it happen…the original article is here.
Have a strictly stylish day!
