Strictly Fab Beauty: My Gift To You…

The holiday season is all about giving. Giving however doesn’t always have to be in the form of a Tiffany’s box or a Neiman Marcus Gift Card (although I would graciously accept both…lol). It can be in the form of love, heartfelt wishes or…beauty tips!! Yes, my gift to you is a few beauty tips I have picked up over the years. Now, these aren’t your typical tips and hints that you might find in a beauty manual, they are a bit odd, but they are effective I assure you.

1) For a unexpected acne breakout, one of the quickest ways to clear it up is washing your face with dandruff shampoo. I have no idea why/how it works, I just know that is does…work…quickly. Maybe it’s the tar… *Note: “Heads and Shoulders is not the one for this sort of thing. Selsun Blue or Neutrogena T-Gel is the best.

2) When applying a smokey eye, a glittery eye, a dark eyeshadow (you get the picture)… “Debris” is inevitable. Two things can be done to prevent ruining the look of the rest of the face. The first one is applying your concealer and eye makeup first THEN applying your foundation, powder and blush. Second, you can apply “post-it” notes under the eye area to catch the debris. The glue on the “post-its” is strong enough to adhere but gentle enough not to redden the skin. Works wonderfully…

3) Want a super close shave without any bumps/redness? Apply a THIN layer of Vaseline to the underarm area and shave. Voila. Super-close shave and super smooth skin. It’s so simple. No water. No shave cream. Just Vaseline and your razor of choice.

4) Ever start the shower and are about to hop in when you realize you forgot to pick up more conditioner? Don’t fret… Just march into your laundry room, fill a dixie cup with some fabric softener and retreat back to the shower. Fabric softener has similar ingredients as most supermarket/drugstore conditioners and will do the job til you remember to pick up more of your favorite condition. And your hair will smell AMAZING.

5) Want a perfect “winged” eyeliner? Have a hard time applying a perfect “cat-eye” with eyeliner? Secret weapon? Surgical tape. Yup. Simply apply a piece of tape where u would want eyeliner to “wing” and line along the edge of the tape. Pull the tape off and you are left with a perfect line/wing. I actually found a great video of this tip. You can see it HERE
