If there’s one thing that I love more than my black sky-high Christian Louboutin booties, it would definitely have to be getting dolled up at the salon. I live for blow-outs, manicures, pedicures; basically any beautifying process that will allow me to receive jealous stares from other women as I strut down Fifth Avenue. And now is the time to be pretty. Today marks the start of Fashion Week here in New York and every single fashionista, beauty maven, socialite and celebrity will be out in full force to view the Fall 2010 collections from major fashion designers. From your hair down to your toenails, it’s an unspoken requirement that you must look good. And, of course, Patrick Wellington (founder and owner of Wellington Hair Spa) knows this; hence he offered a day of beauty for bloggers and editors yesterday at his salon. Services offered included hairstyling, eyebrow plucking and manicures.

blow-out

(Since I recently had my hair done by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, I chose the manicure). Because I’m obsessed with dark nails and also know that sparkly shades of polish are back in style again, I opted to do a combination of the both: an inky black and a glittery silver.

The salon carries manicurists Meredith Leon-McCormack’s haute line of nail polishes, M2M DamoreJon Natural Nail Care. The inky black shade I chose is so appropriately named Rock Star (because in my head I totally think I am one) and the silvery glitter on my two thumbnails is Blackberry Bling. And now I’m off to the tents at Bryant Park!

Ferocia of The Glamazons blog is a twenty-something Texan who moved to NY to jumpstart an amazing career in the publishing world. After graduating with a journalism degree, she packed her bags and dumped her boyfriend in search of her dream job in magazines. Long days and nights of folding knit t-shirts and changing mannequins while completing unpaid internships almost led her to insanity until she finally landed at a popular magazine working in the wonderful world of beauty where her tasks included trying out the latest and greatest beauty products all while writing stories, organizing closets, managing interns and assisting her boss in every and any task imagineable. She was recently laid off from this magazine job, but her love of all things beautiful is just too all consuming for her to stop. Now she can be found applying eyeliner, shopping for lipgloss and interviewing celebrities about their latest beauty loves on the red carpets of some of the hottest events in town. She enjoys living life in the fab lane and reporting on her favorite beauty finds.
