Summer is coming soon–is your body ready for the beach? If you’re like me, you are working out to every fitness DVD on the market, counting calories, and getting those bodies tight….if that were me about 5 years ago. I take it much slower now and favor quality over quantity, i.e. I don’t work myself out to the point of exhaustion anymore. <!– /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:”Cambria Math”; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:1; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-format:other; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:0 0 0 0 0 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1073750139 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:”"; margin-top:0in; margin-right:0in; margin-bottom:10.0pt; margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:”Calibri”,”sans-serif”; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoPapDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; margin-bottom:10.0pt; line-height:115%;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} –> I now concentrate on overall consistent fitness and on my most troublesome areas. One pet peeve that I have are “turkey wings”–the piece of flesh that hangs on the underside of a woman’s arm that flaps with any notion of movement. Here are two exercises (courtesy of Denise Austin and Prevention Magazine) that will tone those turkey flaps:

A. Lie on left side, with left hand resting on right shoulder. Point right hand fingers toward head, flat on floor in front of chest.
B. Contract abdomen and chest while you push off right hand and lift torso several inches off floor. Slowly lower. Repeat 10 times, then switch sides.

A. Stand with right foot about 2 feet in front of left (don’t lock knees), with the middle of a resistance band under left foot. Grasp ends of band in each hand, and position arms so elbows are bent next to ears and hands are behind head.
B. Slowly extend arms over head, keeping elbows next to ears. Then slowly lower back to starting position. Do 15 reps with right foot forward. Switch legs, then anchor band with right foot, and repeat.
Don’t: Let back arch or head or arms fall back.
These are two short and easy exercises to get those arm rights. No excuses!!!
Keep it strictly fab!
